The Artist
Deep in the dark regions of outer space lies Planet Zedo, a forbidding place bombarded with the light of five suns, where creatures have evolved into a highly structured community of philosopher and circus performers, ruled over by Lord Zedo.
Lord Zedo himself was a crazy blend of Plato and Bearded Lady whose past was a mystery to all the creatures he ruled; a past so disturbing that it's told now for the first time.
Lord Zedo, known to his loyal subjects as "Goofy Drew", was launched into space during the October crisis of 1972. His parents believed that the five suns orbiting Zedo would transform their son into a translucent super-being, protecting the rights of the weak and powerless.
Goofy Drew was raised by the polka dotted creatures that inhabited Planet Zedo. And, as he grew strong and wise, it was the fact that he was the only one on the plant with opposable thumbs that made him the perfect choice to rule.
For many a night he would entertain his subjects with stories of the world he had left behind. Although he had everything that he could want, he still longed for home.
One night, after too many bowls of Zedo Ta (a close knock off of Kraft Dinner), he called for the greatest thinker in the land to find a way to return him home. It took many years before the technology was perfected and Lord Zedo could be sent home. The process not being perfect had one flaw, he could never return to Planet Zedo.
The desire to see his friends and family, and the taste of real Kraft Dinner, was too much to give up and Lord Zedo underwent the process and returned to Earth.
Goofy Drew soon realized that years disconnected from human society had left him scared and unable to function. Only surrounded by the polka dot creatures of Planet Zedo did he feel completely at home and relaxed. The problem remained that with only one sun, Earth's creatures would never develop polka dots, unless he created them himself.
So alone and far from the throws of society, he started to make his Zedo Zoo creatures out of wood. He soon had a whole silent army of wooden Zedo Zoo creations and felt comfortable and at peace.
But he thought everyone should enjoy the creatures of Planet Zedo, and Kraft Dinner doesn't come cheap, so he would sell his creations to everyone in the world.
That is the true story behind Lord Zedo and his Zedo Zoo creations.
